Sam sat on the beaches of Lake Eternity, her hand in the water. Hardy, her Houndoom companion, and Fanari, her Delcatty companion, laid on either side of her, stretched out. Fanari was curled up and sleeping.

Duff walks with Oddish, his Shadow, up to Lake Eternity, which he now thinks is an ironic name because it feels like forever since he's been there.

Hardy got up and pinned his ears back, growling, when he heard Duff walking up. "Relax, Hardy," Sam said.

Duff looked nervously at the Houndoom. "Hi. Um, it's been a while since I've been here. But my name's Duff." He slowly extended his hand to Sam.

Duff shrugged a little. "I don't know. ... I guess I just missed this city and the people I used to know. Plus, I've always loved the forest, and this is where I caught.. Celebi." He smiled.

Duff managed to not blush, and he pulled two Pokeballs from his pocket. "Well... Lord Celebi, I guess. I battled him with Pippy, here." He released the Hoppip from one of the Pokeballs. "I've had him and Shadow here forever." Shadow and Pippy smiled at Sam.

"Thanks." Pippy giggled at Sam. Duff clutched the other Pokeball in his hand and glanced at Sam's Pokemon. He smiled. "Your Delcatty is cute. And Hardy seems.. loyal and protective." He laughed inwardly.

Sam nodded. "Hardy's a bit over the top protective, though. He actually attacked a few of my friends before I left Ecruteak." She sighed. "So I have to keep an eye on him at all times." Farani woke up and stretched.

"Don't worry. He won't do anything unless I tell him to," Sam said. The Houndoom merely glared at Duff.
"Hello," Fanari said, purring at the Hoppip.
Sam glanced up and went wide-eyed. Ho-Oh was flying across the sky.

"Lord Ho-oh," Sam said quietly. She bowed her head for a moment as the Pokemon continued in the direction of Kiki's ranch.
Fanari stretched. "It's so nice today."

Pippy giggled at Fanari, calming down a little. "Yeah. I love every day, though."
When Ho-oh could barely be seen, Duff looked back at Sam, too surprised at the moment to say anything.

"This is true. I just don't really like winter," she said. "Too cold."
Sam smiled. "If Lord Ho-oh is about, Lady Fele must be around here too. Perhaps even Lady Adina."

"Lady Fele is the Goddess of Water Pokemon. She's the first Suicune. Lady Adina is the Goddess of Psychic Pokemon. She's the first Mew," Sam said
"I live in Ecruteak with Sam, so it's very mild there. THough the sea is miles off, we still don't get a whole lot of cold and snow," Fanari said.

Duff gasped. "Wow. Suicune are amazing! You mean she's... Where?" Suicune was Duff's favorite after Celebi. And Mew made him think of his sister Angie.
"Oh, that's nice," Pippy smiled. "I like Sam."

Sam nodded. "This lake is Lady Fele's personal retreat to get away from the stresses of the Pantheon. But one should never capture a Pantheon member. I just want to meet Lady Fele."
"Sam's really nice." Fanari smiled. "She's a bit...unique...but that doesn't detract from her caring. I'm technically still wild. She never captured me or Hardy. She doesn't like confining us in Pokeballs."

Pippy was amazed. "She didn't.. catch you? Then what made you follow her? ... And I like my Pokeball. It's comfortable and I like sleeping in it."

"Sam saved my life. My former trainer had died some six months before I came to her and someone had beaten me nearly to death. She nursed me back to health."
