A girl with brown hair and bright green eyes sat on a couch in the main area, reading a book. What's home? she thought. She was fourteen. Where am I? Who am I? She had only been in the orphanage about a week. She had just turned up with absolutely no memory of anything but her name. She fingered a moon necklace that had half a star inside of it that was around her neck. It was the only clue to her past.

Mr. Sanyu flipped through paperwork. He rubbed his temples, coughing.

Unity sighed as she put the book up. Who am I? She walked to a mirror and looked at her reflection, sadness showing.

A tear trickled down her cheek. A bat appeared on her shoulder and wiped the tear away.

Mr. Sanyu headed to the kitchen to see how the dinner preparations were coming,

Unity continued to cry silently. She hadn't said a word in the week she'd been at the orphanage, or really uttered any sound.

Mr. Sanyu blinked when he passed by Unity's room. He knocked gently on the door. "Are you alright in there?

She just continued to cry quietly. A jaguar appeared and opened the door. It was completely normal for the big cat, bat and a couple of other animals to be with her. They never harmed anyone. "Unity's just sad because she can't remember anything," the bat said, fluttering over to Mr. Sanyu. The animals, her Guardians, spoke on her behalf because she refused to.

Mr. Sanyu nodded, he entered the room and sat down on the bed, setting his cane beside him.

Unity just continued to sit there, crying silently. She gripped the crescent moon and half star necklace, wondering what its significance was.

Unity looked up at him, though tears continued to stream down her face. I wish we could tell her... Jevi, the jaguar, thought.

She just looked at him. Jevi laid next to her and she petted her head. "She doesn't talk unless it's to her twin sister, Faith," Jevi said quietly.

Unity sighed, fingering the necklace. She wondered who her twin sister was and if she would ever find her again. She knew they had been together until just recently, but nothing beyond that.

Unity got up and ut a hand on her back. She made a sign that clearly meant, 'What's wrong?' that was referring to the cough.

Mr. Sanyu returned to his office for a while. He checked his answering machine. "Hi Grandpa it's Nozomi, don't forget to take your medication. You didn't sound too well teh other day when I visited." Mr. Sanyu sighed, sitting down.
