"It's like the vibriations from my voice startled it." Inari nodded. "Maybe..." Akel'tri knelt down and put his hand on the ground. "Hey." His voice was very gentle and the Umbreon slowly walked out.

Inari started taking a few notes. "We won't hurt you." Akel'tri held is hand out for the Umbreon to sniff, which it did.

"This is interesting," Inari siad. The Umbreon jerked her head up to look at Inari. "Sorry." She went back to being quiet.
"You understand others by vibrations in the air and ground, huh?" Akel'tri asked and the Umbreon nodded. "Can you speak?" The Umbreon shook her head. "Do you have a name?" She nodded. "But you can't tell us." She shook her head.

"Diana!" Akel'tri looked up as an Espeon ran up. "There you are. I thought I lost you."
"Uh..." Akel'tri blinked.
"Who're you?" The Espeon blinked.
"We're researchers. We just stumbled across..." He looked at the Umbreon.
"My sister, Diana. I'm Dalila."

Diana rolled her eyes. "Oh come on. YOu know you need me. You can't hear." Diana shook her head and ground her paw into the dirt. "You wouldn't be able to survive on your own."
"I think she's trying to communicate," Inari said. She looked at Diana and the Umbreon repeated what she had done. "Let's see.... 'Just because I'm deaf, it doesn't mean I'm helpless. I've survived on my own before you were born. I'm two years older than you.'" The Umbreon nodded.
"But still..." The Espeon was concerned. Diana shook her head and twitched her ears.
"'I lived away from Mom and Dad for six months before you were born. I can survive on my own,'" Inari translated. Diana twitched her tail. "'I'm perfectly capable of surviving on my own. I have a disability, but it's also a strength.'" Dalila's tail drooped.
"I guess she's right."

INari looked at Diana. "Would you be opposed to coming to live with me? I'd just like ot learn how you've adapted. You'd be free to leave at any time." Diana nuzzled INari and she smiled. "That's a yes."
