Ande sat on a bench with nothing more than her jeans and t-shirt on. She smiled as she watched the three white Eevee that accompanied her tussled in the snow, kicking it up. The Laerion sat beside Ande's feet, her expression unreadable as she watched her younger siblings play. Ande's white wings floated lazily in the slight breeze behind her.

Derek leaned up against a tree, in his police uniform, sipping his much needed coffee.

Ande looked up, sensing him, then smiled and went back to looking at the sky. One of the Eevee tumbled over and bumped against Derek's shoe and squeaked.

Derek looked down at the fuzzball. "Hello there."

The Eevee ran back to Ande and hid behind her legs, shivering. The other two followed suit. The Laerion eyed Derek cautiously, but Ande put her hand on the Laerion's head. "Peace, Leta."

"She's protective of the younger ones. Their mother died giving birth to them. Leta was the only one to stay with their mother as she grew up. The father of the younger ones abandoned them after the mother's death," Ande explained.

"Oh." He knew all to well how it was to be abandoned.

Ande looked up at the sky again, her wings extending a little bit. "We were drawn to each other, Leta, her siblings and I, because we've all suffered greatly. Leta, a mute that her father thought would never get anywhere. I, a bastard halfbreed whose parents didn't want her."

Derek nodded. He jumped a bit as his phone went off. He opened it and found a text telling him to pick pick up diapers and more formula after work.

Ande blinked and looked at him, her blue eyes piercing. She looked away after a moment, her hand resting on Leta's head.

Derek threw out his coffee cup. He removed his cap, combing his dark hair back with his fingers. A small lock of sky blue hair poked out a bit before he put his cap back on.

Ande caught a bit of her snow white hair that had been floating freely in the breeze and put it behind her ear. "'Days come and go, never to return. Lives pass by as flower petals on the wind. The snow, ever falling, muffles all.' Tondri Aerasha, 186, Pocatae Maecia." Leta eyed Ande, a little wierded out. "You should know I quote Aerasha much by now, Leta."

"Yet new lives bloom to replace the old." Derek said, smiling at the thought of his own family coming to be as the one with his parents fell apart.

Ande smiled a bit, though bittersweet sorrow stained her blue eyes. "And those lives form new bonds to begin the cycle anew. Forever shall these bonds circle till the Cloak of Eternity decides to silence all."

Derek nodded. He looked at the powdery snow to his side and with a slight movement of his finger he made it swirl with a undetectable breeze.

Ande raised one of her eyebrows slightly and folded her wings against her sides, making it look like she were wearing a coat made out of giant feathers.

Ande sighed and Leta pushed her head into her leg. Ande smiled a bit and looked up. "Not even the freedom of flight takes them away. The cold air just numbs the memories for a time, but they never truly freeze."

Ande shook her head, then looked at the sky. "The sea, the air, the mountains, the grounds, the caves, the plains, the desert... I've found nowhere. More than four centuries of searching..."
