Alaric groaned as the nurses rushed him into a room, the contractions were now regular and slowly gaining in strength. Derek was right behind him, carrying their bag.

As the hours passed, Derek paced the floor, soon it was early the next morning. Christmas eve.

"How's everything?" Dr. Hawk asked as he walked into the room, Alaric groaned in pain. "That good?" He put a glove on one of his hands and checked on Alaric's progress. "You're almost there, Alaric. Maybe a few more hours until it's time to push."
"Gah! Why can't I just push now?!"

Alaric dug his fingers into the sheets. "I'm going through with this, no help." A few more hours passed. "GAH! GET IT OUT!"
"Easy Mr. Dewitt." Dr. Hawk said, checking again. "It feels like it's time to push."
"Finally!" Derek said, throwing his hands up into the air. Dark bags were under his eyes from the lack of sleep and the high stress environment.

Fantasy had gone to the waiting room, but was asleep in the wall because she was too tired to make it.

Dr. Hawk called in a midwife and prepped himself for recieving the baby.
Derek took both of Alaric's hands, keeping their arms above his silver haired partner's head. "You can do this. Just take deep, easy breaths." Alaric nodded and began pushing at the doctor's instruction, squeezing Derek's hands with each push.

Fantasy was still asleep in the wall. Some other people in the waiting room were really creeped out to see half a girl sticking out of the wall.

"Easy Derek, you're husband is in much more pain than you are." Dr. Hawk said. "Anyway, I'm starting to see its head just a few more big pushes."

"GAH!" Alaric shouted, suddenly he felt empty and lighter.
"Hurry up and get her cleaned off." Dr. Hawk said, handing the schreeching newborn to the midwife.
"Her?" Alaric choked, tears and sweat rolling down his pale face.
Derek smiled and kissed Alaric's head. "Yes, Kitten. 'Her', its a girl."
The nurse smiled. "Here she is." she said, gently giving the bundle of blankets to Alaric.
"She's so small." Alaric muttered, gazing at their child. The baby stirred, opening her baby blue eyes to see her smiling parents.
She grabbed Derek's outstretched finger. He smiled. "Hello Nikki. I'm your Dad."
"And I'm your Papa." Alaric added. "It's great to finally see you."

Fantasy woke up, almost as if she sensed that the baby had been born. She phased back through the wall and came to the room to see the newborn.

The nurse took Nikki and left for the nursary. Alaric rested his head on the pillow, exhausted. Derek kissed his forehead. "Get some rest. You deserve it." Alaric nodded and closed his eyes. Derek quietly left the room and called Goram and Emy, then Kate.
