It was nothing more than a simple visit to my mom's house to celebrate her birthday. We'd brought her a bread making machine as a present and we'd brought a really nice cake. We were simply strolling casually through the field as Isa(pronounce like Izza) was showing me what she helped Mom and Dad plant in the garden. I was told to take the camera inside since Poppy'd brought the wrong lens for it. Just as I set it down on the kitchen table, Dad came running in and grabbed a shotgun. "What's going on?" I asked. "Some wild fox-like thing out there. It shot something at Mummum that looked like a black ball. That defies the laws of physics, but if it's trying to hurt us, I'm killing it." I ran back outside with him and to my horror, I saw he was aiming the gun at an Eevee. One that couldn't be more than a month old. I didn't take the time to question how a pokemon appeared in the real world, but I knew I couldn't let dad kill it. "Don't shoot!" I shouted as I ran out between them. "Ty! Get back here," Poppy shouted in his angry voice. "You don't get it, Poppy. This thing isn't hostile. It's scared to death." I slowly approached the Eevee, knowing Dad wouldn't be stupid enough to shoot while I was there. The little thing cowered away from me at first. "There, there. I won't hurt you." "Ty!!" "Wait, Jim," Mummum said. "Give him a chance. It seems like whatever that thing is, it understands him." I slowly reached for the Eevee to pet it, but it retaliated with a Shadow Ball. "Even if you hurt me, I won't hurt you. I want to help you. Someone get me some bread." It wasn't long before Mom sent Isa over with a piece of bread. She handed it to me, then backed away, rather scared. "There there. Here, have some of this," I said, tearing off a small piece for the Eevee. "It's food." The little pokemon crept forward about 2 steps to sniff it. It still wasn't sure, but it took the small bite, then stepped back. I pulled of another small piece and held it out, but not as far away from me. It slowly crept closer, obviously more hungry than scared, and took the bread. This time, the little fox-like pokemon didn't back away, but I knew I dare not reach directly for it yet. I held out the rest of the bread and the young Eevee ate slowly away at it. While it ate, I took my chance and slowly reached out my other hand. I was well aware it was watching my every move. I very gently let my hand fall to its head slowly and stroked it from head to tail, proving I wasn't here to hurt it. "You see? I'm not such a bad guy." Relieved at finally having found someone who wasn't trying to kill it, the young Eevee fell asleep. I scooped him up in my arms and cradled him, knowing full well that there was no way his mother was anywhere near by. He was the only one of his kind in this world. And now, it was time for me to become one of a kind. To take care of this young foreigner to our entire planet.
ooc: There's more to come if you like what I have so far.

Cool. I've attempted writing things like this before, but they've never turned out for me. And you're also good at first person which makes it better. So far, not original in the idea, but knowing you, you'll have plenty of twists and turns to in the course of the story which will more than make up for the lack of originality in this basic introduction of the story. I do want to read more.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Poppy shouted when I came back. "You may find this hard to believe, and I find it hard to believe, but this is a pokemon called Eevee." "You're right about one thing, kiddo," Mom said. "We don't believe you." "That black ball it used. It's called Shadow Ball." I pulled out my DS with Diamond in, turned it on, and showed them a picture of Eevee. "Perfect resemblance, don't you think?" "I still don't think you should be holding it," Mummum said. "It went wild and attacked us. Who's to say it won't again?" "You would have attacked too if you were him. He's no more than a month old. Way too young to be away from his mother. Yet somehow, here he is in the real world with no one to take care of him. Since he's the only one of his kind, animals of all kinds consider him an intruder and prey. He's been running for his life for quite a while it seems. His fur is positively matted with sticks and thorns and dirt. He's got claw marks all over his body. It's only natural he was scared of you. You scared him and you nearly killed him. He's lucky I came out when I did." I looked down at the sleeping Eevee in my arms. "Mummum, Poppy, I'm keeping him. He's finally found someone who won't hurt him." "You want to keep that THING?" Mummum said in disbelief. I nodded. "You may think of him as just a wild beast, but give me some time to get him cleaned up, nursed back to health, and tamed. You'll see he has human emotions. In the category of feelings, he's no different from you and me." "If you do keep him, you'll be responsible for everything to do with him," Poppy said. "The only things we'll do are take care of him while you're at school and buy you the food he needs. As soon as you figure out what that is." "That will take time, but I'll do it," I said. "I'll be fully responsible for him." "You think dog shampoo will work on him?" Mummum asked. "And what are you even going to call him?" "I'll decide on a name when he wakes up," I said. "I want it to be one he likes. For now, he's probably going to be out a while. He's obviously been going non-stop since he got here, just trying to stay alive, and being so young, that's very taxing for him. He needs his rest big time." "Isa, now that the brown fox is sleeping, you wanna touch it?" Mom asked? Isa responded with a nod. I stooped down onto her level. "Just don't pull his ears or tail. You don't want to give him ouchies." It was very cute to watch Isa reach out, touch his paw with one finger, then pull back, giggling. I knew I'd gotten myself into a lot of responsibility with this, but it'd be worth it to have a life long companion. In my mind, I told myself this Eevee and I would become like Kiba and Akamaru. Yeah, I stole Naruto's line, but I couldn't think of anything better.

My little sister is the cutest, but she doesn't always listen. She's gotten scratched a few times because she doesn't listen when Mom tells her not to pull the cat's tail.

The young Eevee slept the whole rest of the day at my Mom and Dad's and during the entire car ride home. It wasn't until we got home that he finally woke up. "Morning," I said. "Well, it's not really morning. It's evening." The Eevee smiled and licked my face. "How'd you like to get that fur of yours cleaned up?" I asked. He nodded in response, obviously very happy about the idea of getting cleaned. I carried him into the bathroom and began to run water in the tub. It took a little experimenting to get it to the right temperture. "Ok. It's ready," I said. He wasted no time in jumping out of my arms into the lukewarm water. He looked at me and reponded with a happy "Mwee." Now was a bit of a hard part. Getting all the thorns and other things out of his fur. I had to be very careful trying to get them out, and he did squeak from pain a few times when I accidentally pulled too hard. All in all, it went rather smoothly. The hardest part was getting a few thorns out of his ears. Now, I had to wash him. He was certainly far more cooperative than our dog when it came to getting washed. He turned the way I needed him to, he stayed standing when I needed him to. Probably because he understood human speech where as our dog didn't. When I got him out and toweled him off, the first thing out from under that towel was a tongue licking my nose. "You know, you do that just like Cheyenne," I said. "Now next thing I gotta do is name you." I thought for a while as I toweled him off. "Shep?" He shook his head. No good with that one. "Hmmm. Well, how about............................................. David?" Still didn't hit home. "Ok. What about................................. Klein?" He contemplated it for a minute before giving a "Mwee" of approval. That cemented it. His name was Klein.

D'aww. Klein is so cute. :3 And sorry for not saying much other than "it's good". I've never been much of a critic.

"You must be really hungry, Klein." Klein eagerly responded by licking my nose. "Easy boy. I'll make you something. Something I know you couldn't have gotten from your mom. Some chicken soup." He tilted his head. "My guess is you aren't really keen on eating meat, but if you eat the soup, it'll help you feel better quicker." "Mwee," came his unsure response. It took a while to make the soup since I chose to make it from scratch, but I finished it. "I got this recipe in cooking class," I said as I sat down in the rocking chair with a bowl of soup on a side table beside me and Klein in my arms. I made sure the soup wasn't so hot that it would burn him, then I scooped up a spoonful and held it close to him. He seemed reluctant to eat it. "Klein, it's good for you. And it tastes good, too. Give it a try at least." He stubbornly kept his mouth closed. "Come on, Klein. Open up." Still he resisted me. "Fine. I'll just have to do this, then." I began tickling him with the arm that was holding him. He tried to fight back the laughter, but in the end, he burst out with his cute little "Mwee"-ing laughter. I took the chance and got the soup in his mouth. He swallowed it and it seemed he enjoyed the taste after contemplating it for a minute. "I told you you'd like it, Klein." "Mwee. Mwee!" "Ok, Ok. I get it. You're really hungry." Mummum and Poppy watched as I sat there and fed Klein. "Maybe he's a better daddy than we think," Poppy said. "I heard that," I said in reply. "I'm not Klein's daddy." "Still, you're acting like his dad," Mummum said. I couldn't really argue with her on that one. Frankly, I didn't want to. I was enjoying this.

The autism conference was something I really didn't feel like going to, but as always I had no choice. Klein had to come with us. There would have been no one at home to watch him otherwise. "Now Tyler, you make sure you know where Klein is at all times," Mummum said. "The last things we need are him getting lost, biting someone, then being captured as a vicious dog or killed as a wild animal." "I know, Mummum. He won't get away from me." I think Klein and I had been watching too much Naruto. He climbed right up my shirt and looked out from inside like Akamaru did with Kiba. "That'll do it," Poppy said. Mummum had to laugh. I did too. Klein "Mwee"d happily, just glad he was with his friend. "Well, Klein, seems you're sticking with me this way." "Mwee," Klein responded happily. I didn't really expect him to behave perfectly. Eevees are very curious creatures after all. Getting there and finding our room for the opening keynote went without a hitch. Klein was asleep the entire time. Part way through, I left to get a drink and Klein woke up, took his chance, and jumped out of my shirt, then ran off. "Klein! Get back here!" I yelled, chasing after him. He was fast for a little guy and kind of hard to keep up with. I finally caught up and found him being held in the air by his back leg by a security guard. "Please, put him down. You're hurting him!" "This thing is yours?" the guard said. "Yes, he is. He got away from me." "Hmmmm. Fine," he said, letting Klein go. "Mwwee!" Klein yiped as he hit the floor. "Just keep better track of him from now on," the guard said before leaving. Frankly, I wanted to smack him one for hurting Klein, but I knew that would just make things worse. "Klein," I said, scooping him up in my arms. "This is why you have to stay with me. Other people don't know what you are." Klein nodded then fell asleep. I couldn't help but fear he had a concussion since he landed headfirst.

Good. I just woke up ten minutes ago, so I don't have much else to say as my brain is still waking up.
