All of these points are open to discussion
We've all noticed a major decline in activity and overall fun of the site. We're still very active, but why? I think it's just because we want to hold onto this site. I admit I don't want to lose the site, but I think major change is needed.
This site is but a shell of its former glory. In the first year, year and a half, we had mini plot ideas like crazy. Team Phantom was one of the most decisive forces on the forum. Though they were constantly foiled by the stronger characters, they never gave up. There were no deserters.
But in the past year and a half, two years, this site has gone down a lot. Nearly all of the focus has been just around couples and the homes, the daily lives of the trainers. I realize this was the original intent of the site, but it was meant to compliment the more exciting aspects of the forum: Training, Coordinating, breeding and the like.
So I'm proposing a remake of the site. Things will be similar, but not the same.
Here are my reasons for proposing this remake:
I realize there are many reasons for not doing it as well, but I feel as though the reasons to do the remake are more for not doing it. I also realize that we won't want to abandon everything we currently have. I'll make a small section reserved for the old TL RPs so we don't have to. I also know that people don't like to tab hop (as I call it). I won't delete this forum, but I'll make it unable to be posted in.
Changes that would be made:
*More focus on Pokemon
Self explanatory
*Less focus on magic.
I realize that magic is an integral part to the forum. I won't eliminate it completely, but I'll be stricter on limiting it, even in myself. i personally am not very good at normal characters though I'm starting to try to get better.
*No god-mod characters
There are these still. We shouldn't have any at all in my opinion. Granted, there are characters like Adiven, Roran and Kazuya that are tens of thousands of years old, but they can still be defeated. Even Zerza, their mother, one of the most powerful goddesses in the 3rd D, can be defeated. It might not be easy, but she still can be.
The only exceptions should be Mother, the Pantheon, Sandu and his Reapers (more on this next).
These characters would NOT be able to get involved in battles except for the most utterly, dire circumstances. They can be called on, however, using the Pearls of the Pantheon (often just the Pearls) once a year. There are nine of them. After they're used, they scatter to different parts of the city. They can't be easily located by any means even magic.
(Yes, we did rip off Dragonball Z)
*More focus on the Pantheon
I realize that this is my idea, but I'm considering opening it up to others. I don't like having to use all of the twenty-some gods and goddesses by myself, so I'd open them up to others to use. They'd have to fill out applications and such to make sure they wouldn't abuse their powers.
There will be some exceptions to this, mostly Pantheon members that I have developed. And Mother, Sandu and the Reapers. But most of the members are as of yet unused and, as such, undeveloped. You'd also have to be a member for at least 4 months. Though any member that's been on this original forum for that time or longer can apply if I've seen them as able to hold it.
I can give more information to those that are curious. There are still a lot of kinks that have to be worked out between the legendaries and such, but I'm working on that.
I just think that this would make the forum more dynamic and diverse.
*A new city
Why would we abandon Pokeopolis after it has such a long history? I just think things are far too jumbled and need to be smoothed out. A new city would solve this. It would also give a clean slate to new members.
*Concrete time system
Face it. Time is severely screwed up because for the first year we had no system. My new system is a roughly 16 month system. It's just a tweaked version of the current system we have.
One month is one season, thus four months are one year. In the current system, we kinda stick to the normal 12 month system of this world and taht makes things horribly confusing. Since each month has about four weeks, we can make each season be four months.
*No long time skips
This was another an early part of the downfall of any sort of hope for a time early in the forum. I've gotten better at saying no forum-wide skips, but people still do individual thread skips. It creates for some interesting time-space bridges and whatnot. People meeting kids that shouldn't be born for a year... Enough said.
There wouldn't be any individual thread time skips of more than about 2-3 weeks.
*An advised order for the gym leaders
There's no real rhyme or reason for them at the moment. Pretty self explanatory
*Only one Pokemon upon arrival to the city
How would that happen? The spells surrounding the city would prevent any trainer from accessing their team that's outside the city. There'd be a professor like Professor Oak that had a ranch that holds all of the trainers' Pokemon. The person would check in with the professor and choose only one Pokemon. The professor would hold onto the rest of their team. If they manage to get passed the 6th gym, they can get the rest of their team back. The person is allowed a fully team of Pokemon from around the city, but none from outside of it.
This, of course, will be omitted for any natives to the city.
*More elaborate characters
Face it. There are too many characters that are underdeveloped. And too many characters in general. The form would be somewhat modified to accommodate this shift in characters.
*Word count
Seriously. We have almost nothing to work with half the time in the one liners. Fifteen words per post?
*Stricter rules
Mostly on mature content and such.
*Team Phantom
They're going to be more active and such. They'll still be on the island that can only be accessed by teleporting. They won't be able to be stopped every time. They'll commit petty crimes, but also still be amazing enough to have epic battles.
*Handling
This is not a part that would be necessarily added, but if anyone wants it to be, I'd be more than willing to explain and elaborate on it. This little point is a suggestion, not a necessity.
