Picking up where I left off

Eve and I definitely had something special between us. I felt so happy everytime we kissed, but we never told Mummum and Poppy. We were sure they wouldn't approve. Every night, we'd share a very intimate kiss right before we fell asleep, her head on my chest and my arm around her shoulder.
"You 2 look so cute together when you're asleep," Mummum said one morning.
"Really? You've seen us?"
She nodded." I peek in at you when I get home. I see her with her head on your chest and you with your arm around her. You look so cute and so happy."
I smiled. "Well, we are really good friends."
"Yes you are. I'm glad we got her for you."
"I was a bit skeptical at first, Poppy said, "but I see now it was a turn for the better." I just smiled and petted Eve. I couldn't bring myself to tell them the truth.

Eve and I decided to sleep under the star that night. It'd been a hard day, so I was sure I'd have no trouble falling asleep. "I love you, Eve." I said, taking her paw. "All the time we spend together. I cherish every minute of it."
"I love you, too. I wish we could spend more time together." I smiled as she kissed me. We were interrupted by my grandfather's voice.
"Well, I can out to ask if you wanted a blanket, but I suppose a better question would be what wrong with you?!" I couldn't talk. He'd scared me so bad.
"Nothing," I finally said. "That wasn't a kiss."
"Bull shit! Get your ass in the house!" I got up and Eve followed me in. Poppy explained to Mummum what he saw, then she faced us.
"Why?" she asked. I couldn't answer. "Just tell me why. Tell me the truth and you won't get in trouble." Eve put her paw on my leg, then turned to them and began speaking perfect English.
"We did it because we love each other," she explained. They were definitely surprised, but they didn't look mad.
"Is this true?" Poppy asked. I nodded. "Then why'd you hide it?"
"Because I thought you'd be upset with me," I said, expecting the worst.
"We're not upset with you for falling in love, Tyler," Mummum said, hugging me. "We're upset with you for lying about it. How long ago did you 2 realize you were in love?"
"A few months," Eve said. "We've kissed every night before we went to sleep. The first time I told him I loved him, I kissed him to make him be quiet and listen. He said he loved me, but he'd been so obsessed with his video games, I made him kiss me again and put his tongue in my mouth to prove it."
"Did it make you both happy?"
"Very happy," I answered. Mummum went to her room and returned with 2 necklaces. Each had a half of a coin that, when united, said 'love'. She gave them to me.
"You wear one and put the other on Eve. We can't afford diamonds, so call these your engagement necklaces."
"Aren't I too young to marry?"
"By your own choice, yes," Poppy said, "but with our approval, you can, and you have both our approval and our blessing."
Tears of joy rolled down my face. "Mummum, Poppy. Thank you so much. When will the wedding be?"
"You're the ones getting married. You decide."
"I want to ASAP," I told them, Eve nodded in agreement.
"We can do it within a week," Mummum said. "I'll say this. It's odd you fell in love with an Umbreon, but we accept your decision."
