She nodded, blowing her nose. "I knew e'd been through a lot, but even I can jump to conclusions. I knew we weren't that different." She blew her nose again. "I'm just so afraid of being betrayed that I can't help but jump to conclusions..."

Gale smiled at her, "It's true that there are people who will betray you in the world, but they're few and far between. If you're always worried about being betrayed, how can you actually enjoy your life?" Gale stood up, stretching. "I'm glad this was just a misunderstanding. I owe you both a lot, so I'm glad I could help."

She let out a hollow laugh. "My only real family was Grandma Lorelei and Grandma Aggy. My mother was a stickler and my father an alcoholic."

Gale held her hand out again, offering to help Seyn up. "I understand your fear, Seyn. When I was sick, I was always afraid, wondering when the day would come that I would die. But thanks to you and Itsuki, I don't have to worry about that anymore." Gale took a deep breath, "My dad told me something a long time ago, and it inspired me to always keep trying back then. The real hero is not the one that doesn't have fear, but the one that faces their fears."

As Gale became more assured Seyn was following, she stopped checking as often. The pair made good progress through the streets.
