It's not just our world anymore. Earth no longer belongs solely to humans with supernatural notebooks and super genius minds. No, Earth has been taken. You cannot see them until the very last moment of your death. You cannot hear them until you touch the pale pages of the notebook in their slimy, talon-like, human like hands.
Around the world, criminals and civilians alike are dropping like flies. At first, it seemed to be the work of many, many Kiras but then civilians started dying. Teachers, lawyers, doctors, homeless folk. For Detective L, the fun and games he played with Light Yagami are over. When innocents are dying, even the true Kiras (Light Yagami, Misa Amane, Kiyomi Takada, and Teru Mikami) are in shock. Why are innocents dying? Who is doing this? How many Death Notes are out there?
The world is in a frenzy. If your name is known, you could be a target. You could be dead any time. FBI records of humans are being deleted. Census' are being recalled. Everything and anything that has any connection to a name and a face is being erased from the world. People wear masks over their eyes, like a Masquerade Ball. Only this Ball, you could drop dead without your mask on.
People go by aliases, people are scared. Death Notes are dropping at an alarming rate. Which brings rise to the question:
How many Shinigami are there in the universe?
Are they being called by the Shinigami King, the one Death God who rules over every existing Death God? Are the coming of their own free will?
No one knows. It is a mystery. And it could mean the end of the human race. And it is now 2019. The children of Whammy's House cannot leave the orphanage without a mask on. They're scared, more than ever. They have been stripped of code names and are given numbers.
Anywhere they go, they could die. Without their masks, anyway. But they must solve the case; why are they here? What is their purpose? And why does it sound like they're in a cheap alien invasion movie?
