At the end of the school day, Seyn yawned and headed to her locker.

Itsuki stepped through the halls, as a teacher came running from the infirmary, crashing into him. "W... What's going on?" Itsuki, shaken, asked. "Can't talk. I have to get medical personel as soon as possible." The teacher raced off again. Itsuki, his curiosity getting the better of him, peered through the door to the infirmary.
(Betcha cann't guess what happens next...)

Seyn turned around and raced to the infirmary.

Itsuki gasped, seeing the person on the stretcher. "Gale??!" He quickly pulled the notebook out, muttering to himself, "But why...? The attribute hasn't returned, and her life force is still going strong..."

Seyn walked in and sat next to Gale's bed. What could have happened...? She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, the air around her becoming totally calm. Her normal aura was energetic and bouncy, but now it was still as water. She started looking through Gale's energy to see if there was anything she could do.

(Although the root of the disease was removed, the physical manifestation of the sickness needs to be worked through. Healing magic should help her, now.)
Itsuki couldn't think of any reason this could be happening.

Seyn smiled. I got this. She started to work with Gale's energy to heal her.

Itsuki looked up, surprised by Seyn's action. She's right. This isn't the time to be discouraged. Although the notebook's not going to be of use, I can still do whatever I can.

After about twenty minutes, Seyn fell to her ground, completely exhausted. She had healed Gale to the best of her ability which meant Gale was healed nearly completely. Seyn took a deep breath and closed her eyes, passing out. She'd expended far more energy than she has thought she would.

"Seyn?" Itsuki ran to her side. "Uuhhh..." Gale moaned, slowly sitting up. "Wha... Where am I?" "The infirmary. You were in pretty bad shape earlier, until we got here." Itsuki said, as he worked to make sure Seyn was breathing and her heart rate remained steady. "What did you do? I... I feel strange." Gale was looking around. "Yeah. That's what the rest of us call, being healthy." Itsuki told her. "But... how? I've been told it was incurable..." "Must you ask so many questions?" Itsuki said, "At least while you're talking help me get her onto a bed." He pointed down at the collapsed Seyn. "O... Okay." Gale stood up, and although she was still slightly shaky, she helped lift Seyn. The teacher who had ran out of the room returned at this moment. "What are you doing!!?" He was still panicked. "It's okay... I'm better." Gale told him. "There's no way you could be 'better'." The teacher said, and took over moving Seyn for Gale. "Now get back into that bed until the doctor comes and has a look at you."

A blonde haired woman around twenty looked at Seyn. "She's just exhausted from using so much energy." Aria looked up at the teacher. "And Gale is healed." Though she only looked twenty, she was much older and well-respected. She was the head of the healers at the hospital, but she often visited schools.

The teacher stood up, "Ah, thank you for coming. Sorry for worrying you over this." He looked at Itsuki and Seyn, "When I left this room earlier, she seemed in serious trouble, but whatever these two did must have patched her up." He was referring to Gale. Itsuki watched the doctor, A healer. Gale said something about her disease being incurable. I sure hope this doctor doesn't start asking questions...
(Since she's a healer, she'd more than likely know there's no normal cure for that disease.)

Aria nodded. "Well, natural energy healing can do a lot." She looked over at Seyn who was pale and beginning to shiver as if she were going into hypothermia. "Oi, the young never know when to stop...' She put er hand on Seyn's shoulder and Seyn stopped shaking, her color returning. She looked at Itsuki. "She should wake up in an hour or so."

Itsuki nodded. "That's good. Wouldn't want to lose my best piece." He got up. "Well, since the excitement's over, I'm outta here. I'll come pick her up in an hour then."
(Basically he just equated Seyn to a chess piece. Itsuki the Cold strikes again...?)

"Hey, boy." Aria looked at him. "People aren't pawns or tools just for your amusement. I can understand if you've been through a lot, but so has she." She nodded to Seyn. "Father was a drunk that often beat her. Mother never spent time with her. That bubbly exterior? Well, that's her shield from the world."

"Heh. Least she has someone she can call family." Itsuki said, walking out the door without another word. The teacher looked out the door after him. "Poor kid. I've heard about him. His parents used to be rich merchants, lived in a mansion on the fancy side of town. Then one day the mansion and everything in it's on fire. Nobody knows if it was accidental or arson. There have been rumors, though, that his father made a deal with some shady folks." The teacher shook his head, "Strangest thing, too, was that the rest of his family members started dropping like flies after that. Almost everyday there was someone killed in a mugging or accident..."

Aira shook her head, feeling sorry for him.

Gale sighed, "I guess we can't exactly blame him. After all, he had to cope with the loss of every single member of his family, and the severe drop in wealth and social standing, all happening at once. No wonder he's so cynical." She looked confused then, "But why'd he help me, if he's like that, I wonder?" The teacher scratched his head. "I don't know for sure, but I believe there was some rumors flying around that Lady Donovan was diagnosed with a disease similar to what you had."

An hour later, Seyn came do and picked her backpack up, starting to head home.

Gale had already left, and Itsuki stepped in, and looked at her, his eyes somewhat cold. "You feeling any better?" His voice, also, seemed somewhat forced, like he was trying hard to keep it light.

"Yes," she said coolly, her face relatively emotionless.

"Good." Itsuki turned and started walking away. Dangit, why am I feeling this way? We just helped somebody, I should be happy... Why? Why do I feel so hostile toward her?

"By the way, I'm no chess piece." Her voice was cold. "Goodbye, Itsuki." She turned on her heel and started running away, tears flowing out of her eyes. Why do I even bother trying to get close to people? All they'll ever do is hurt me...

Itsuki continued walking, never hesitating or looking back. I don't need her. I don't need anybody. This is my place in life, to be truly, absolutely, alone...

Seyn collapsed, crying, in an alleyway.

Itsuki went home, which was a small apartment he rented. He wanted to cry, but he could not. In the past three years, he had cried every tear his body was able to make: his tear ducts were perfectly dry.

Gale walked up to Itsuki at his locker. "Hey, where's Seyn?" "Dunno." Itsuki started walking away. Gale looked worried, and went after him. "What do you mean? You guys are friends, right?" Itsuki didn't answer, instead going into the classroom. Gale turned around and ran off, barging into the principal's office. "It's bad. I think... Seyn and Itsuki have gotten into a fight..."

The principal looked up from her computer. "I'm sorry, Gale, but it's not my problem. If they're fighting, it's between them."

"You don't understand!" Gale said, "I overheard Aira and a teacher talking. Itsuki lost everyone he ever knew all at once. He hit rock bottom. Shortly after this, he started coming here. He quickly gained the nickname, Itsuki the Cold. This year he met Seyn, so far the only person he'll open up to in the past three years. And now, they've gotten in a fight, I don't know why, that has caused him to close back up. After being injured by the first person he opened up to in three years, do you really think he'll ever be happy? And, will he be able to bear his dispair?"
