"It's ancient Elvish. The language itself went extinct well over 15,000 years ago. Umoki-unete and Servot-uneto are 200,000 so they know all extinct and current languages."

"Oh. Well, when do we start training?"

"We can start right now. What knowledge of magic do you have?"

"I once went to an underground magic fighting tourniment, and I've read a lot of non-fiction books about magic."

"So you have no experience using it yourself?"

"Nope. That's why I want to learn."

"this is going to be tough, then. You'll probably only be able to tap the Basic Four: Wind, Fire, Earth and Water."

"Of course. Than if I get an elder to Awaken my powers, I can get into the others, right?"

"A...what?' Yuski blinked. "Anybody can tap the Basic Four with proper training. You don't need an elder to awaken magic; it's with you naturally."

"Oh, I was talking about alchemy. Different art of magic."

"Oh, alchemy. Kiki knows about a type of that. She tried to teach me a bit, but it was a bit too complicated with the transmutation circles and all."

"Well, the system of magic I'm going to be teaching you is called Unteshmei. It's a Fairy word, but it's becoming more and more widespread over the 3rd D. Unteshmei itself means 'Nine Elements' because we work with a system based on nine Elements. Those are Light, Darkness, Sun, Moon, Star, Wind, Fire, Earth and Water. They are the basis of everything you will learn. There are Sub Elements and whatnot, but those aren't basics except Ice and then there's the Hidden, Shadow and Radience, but you don't need to worry about thse..."

"Okay."

"Anyways, basic descriptions of the Elements.
Light is the healing Element. it's the least offensive, but possibly the most powerful if you can wield it in an offensive manner. As Light heals easily, it can also kill just as easily. If one learns to wield it correctly, you can mess with the opponet's body. But few Light users wield it this way. They are usually pacifists.
"Darkness. this is easily the most dangerous of the Elements save for Shadow. there's a state called the Darkness Biter where the magic takes over the user. It tears the user apart from the inside out. One must take extreme heed when using it.
"Sun. Mostly defense. It's fairly straight forward.
"Moon. Defense and offense are fairly equal, but the strengths can be different per user.
"Star. Possibly one of the most dangerous. It's also probably the most complex because it's used to affect the mind. the laws regarding this Element are strict because it can be abused so easily.
"Wind. Mostly offensive and defensive. Depends how you learn it.
"Fire. Mostly offense and showing off.
"earth. Mostly defense.
"Water. Mostly defense.
"Any questions about the basic Elements?"
[Obviously, when Yuski's explaining this stuff, it's going to take a little while.]

Yuski nodded. "one of the most basic forms of training is magnet training." She pulled two magnets out of her pocket and placed them in the palm of her hand. They rose and began clanking into each other, creating an eerie humming, then began playing Carol of the Bells. "this is advanced magnet training. the basics teach you to rotate magic in a sphere like so." Yuski held her hand up and a sphere of Fire appeared.

Yuski nodded. "It's hard to get, though. Most 3rd D natives begin this around two or three years of age, but anyone can learn it." She handed him a magnet. "I don't expect results right away. it takes quite a while to get."

"Okay." Maxie took the magnet and put it in his palm He focused, and the magnet slightly rose, and started spinning. A little ball of swirling air enveloped the magnet. It was smaller than Yuski's, but it was still a ball. The air dissipated, and the magnet fell into his palm.

Yuski blinked. "Hm. You may have an affinity with Wind. Air currents aren't the way we usually move them; it's actually usually just plain magic. But whatever works."

"But that's also the second hardest of the Basic Four to control because it's unpredictable. It's a strong Element, but hard to control. it's a double-edged sword."

"In the Basic Four, it's Fire. Of all Elements, it's Darkness."

Maxie thought he was good enough, and took away the magnet. He did the excactly same thing, but this time the magnet wasn't there. When he made the ball, it flew away and blew over a nearby vase. He quickly grabbed the vase, and put it back.
