The mercenary sat on the couch, his arms folded as he huffed. "Stop being such a baby," Clariel said again as she looked over her shoulder at him. "What's your name?"
"Like hell I gotta tell you."
"It's Ezrea." The mercenary glared at her.

Sol and Sylvia were soon inside.
It was a few hours before Inala woke up. Sne smiled and gently stroked Cameron's head.

Clariel had finished cooking and had the table set with cups of hot chocolate for them. Zuri fluffed out her coat and shook the snow out of it. "Brr!"
He was already awake.

Inala smiled. "Well, for the past like 10 years of my life, I've been raising Sylvia and Sol because their parents went missing. Before that, I had a child once, but my mate died of old age. I miss having my own child to care for."

Sol thought hard, trying to remember some distinguishing feature. "She had a seventh small tail."
Inala smiled. "That's why I volunteered myself as a surrogate. Even if the child isn't of my blood, if I give birth to it, it's still my child."
