Saik trotted along next to Toax. Shea sat on Toax's head and the former deity smiled a bit. "YOu silly," he said.

Huinua's ears perked up and he began sniffing. "Oh no. Not now. Not when others are around."
"What is it, dad?"
"Seviper," he said in a growl.

"Hm?" Toax asked.
"Seviper and Zangoose have a blood feud. It's been around almost since the beginning of time," Shea explained quickly.

"That's right," Huinua said. "Whether I want to or not, this is a battle I have to fight, because that Seviper will stop at nothing to attack me until it can't move. Just stay back. As long as you don't get involved, it'll ignore you and focus on me."
"I won't let you fight alone, dad," Alexis said, stepping forward.
"You will if you don't want to end up poisoned. Now stay back!" As he raised his voice, the Seviper reared up out of the grass to strike. Huinua lept forward to push it away from the others, but in the process, the Seviper's long fangs sunk into his shoulder.

"Uh oh," Shea said. "Toax! You're good at antitoxins, right?"
Toax nodded and sat down, rumagaing through his backpack.

Alexis watched in horror. Huinua fought back, but it seemed like something was restraining him. "What's wrong? My dad should be stronger than that. There's no way the poison would have spread this fast." A look of terror crossed her face. "He's not trying to win. He's trying to buy time for us to escape."
Huinua took a number of additional bites from the Seviper, the poison starting to take heavy effect on him. "We've got to stop it, but how? How do we quell a rage that's burned since the beginning of time?" Alexis fumbled with her ocarina. "Wait, that's it." She grabbed her ocarina and ran out between Huinua and the Seviper.
"Alexis, run!"
"I'm not leaving you, dad." She played a note on her ocarina, which caused a barrier to appear around her, repeling the Seviper.
