"this was always one of my favorites." Kadath pointed to one of the pictures that showed a twelve year old Elry and a fifteen year old Eddy playing together, using Mudkip as squirt guns. Eddy's Mudkip hit Elry too hard and he comforted her when she started crying.

Eddy nodded. "I like that one too."

She smiled. "And this one." It showed an eight year old Elry and Eleven year old Eddy at Yozun, the Yeneo equivalent of Christmas. Elry was opening a present and Eddy was covering his mouth. A bunch of goop shot out of the present and hit Elry in the face. She blinked, then smiled and tossed some of the goop at Eddy, a goop fight soon ensuing. Kadath chuckled.

"You always were the little prankster when it came to giving your sister presents especially on her birthday."

Eddy smiled and nodded. "Yeah."

"You never did like to see her upset. It always made me so happy to see you two laughing together."

"You're not going to be happy until I go talk to, Elry, are you, Mom?"

She shook her head. "It pains me to see this happening. Eddy, she's closing herself off to the world. She's barely hanging to a thread of hope you care about her."

"Talking won't do any good."

"You'd be surprised at what talking can do. Words are powerful. They can speak to the deepest recesses of our consciousness. Why do you think books have the power to move us to tears, or clench our hearts with fear, or make us happy when the hero triumphs...when we know it's all fake? It's just words, but we feel a part of it. Why do you think therapy works? It's just talking, but it helps people through their darkest times. Words help us uncover our deepest emotions. The more we talk, sometimes the better things become. Talking helps everyone." She looked at Eddy, her violet eyes a reflection of Elry's. "And don't lie to me; after looking back through this album, I know you want some bond with your sister back. I know things can never be the same, but new bonds can be formed. Elry let go of her barriers to a great extent to let you back in. Now you've got to let yours down. You buried yourself under two thousand years of thinking, 'I'll probably never see her again'. Now that she's back in your life, you don't know what to do. Am I right?"

"Eddy, please try to reconnect with her. Look beyond your surface. Let the barriers go. For her sake. Remember how happy you two used to be. I know things will never be the same between you, but if you just try, I think you two may be able to be close again."

"Eddy, calm down," she said. "I can understand being protective of your younger sibling, but you're a little overly paranoid. I was much the same way when my younger sister started looking for a guy. I thought her future husband was harboring dark motives, but I got to know him. He was a great guy. Take a few moments to step back, take a few deep breaths and try to set aside your prejudices to see who he really is."

Kadath remained calm and smiled when Loni, an Eevee, walked over and hopped into Eddy's lap.
