After Lizzy got her pokemon healed, Jalen and Lizzy were standing across from each other in the contest practice field, with people watching. The usual cry across the town was:
"TWO NEWBIES ARE HAVING A CONTEST BATTLE!"

Ewosa looked up from her book, a Pikachu on her shoulder. "Cool." She walked over, watching. People let her pass and she got a good vantage point.

"Let's go, Turtwig!" Jalen yelled, releasing Suri.
"Get up there, Piplup!" Liz responded, releasing piplup.

"Hm. Hopefully this is better than some of the newbie battles I've seen recently," she muttered. Ewosa had short brown hair and green eyes and was clearly only eleven.

"Turtwig, use Tackle!" Suri jumped, did a lot of twists and flips, and flipped torwards Piplup.
"Piplup, jump!" Piplup trid to jump, but the attack hit anyway.

"Piplup, Growl!" Piplup sqeaked, with the best he can muster, a song.
"Withdraw, Suri!" Suri curled up into a ball. "Now roll into Piplup!" The curled up Turtwig rolled torwards Piplup, running into Piplup.

Outside newbies won't survive long in this city. Especially in the Contest system. Kiki doesn't slack in Appeal judging and battles, Ewosa thought.

"Piplup, pound!" Piplup jumped, flipped, and flew torwards Suri, spinning.
"Jump!" Suri jumped out of the way. "Tackle!"

Ewosa shrugged. "You should get to knwo your companions before you battle in my opinion. IF you don't know them, you don't know their battle style. Practice by yourselves before you practice with others; that's my philosiphy."

"Turtwig, withdraw!" Turtwig curled up into a ball and broke away from under Piplup. She rolled around, then rolled into Piplup again.

"Turtwig, Tackle!" Turtwig jumped up really, really high, and dived torwards Piplup with a torpedo of a spin.
