Here we can share what we think the best pokemon is, and why we think so. Of course, you can feel free to use any pokemon you've used in any game, or base your idea on statistics. Please note that legendary pokemon are obviously excellent, so they are disqualified.
My idea for the best pokemon would have to be sableye, because of it's type combination (ghost/dark) it is immune to fighting, normal, and psychic attacks, and with good defence it can withstand most other type attacks. Also, it'a night shade move deals the same amount of damage as it's level, so if you raise it to a good level, it becomes that much more powerful. (My Sableye on Emerald is lv. 81.) From experience, if you let it learn detect and give it leftovers (which restore health every turn) Sableye is a suitable wall.

Eevee in my opinion. Mostly because of the versatility of the Normal type to learn different attacks. Eevee might be very vulnerable to Fighting attacks, but the ability to learn other type attacks makes up for it imo. Also the fact it can evolve so differently.
Lame reasons, but I'm not focusing on gameplay really. I'm just thinking in general.
I'm also half asleep which is why I can't think straight.

Also, ever's normal type would protect it from the ghost type moves of a Sableye, which would make it a little bit more difficult to defeat using a Sableye. Although, Sableye can learn dark moves as well, so it's not impossible to win with Sableye.
I remember that a fighting move can connect with Sableye, but it would take two turns to pull off, and I would have plenty of warning to switch Sableye out before your next turn, and come at you with another pokemon in my party. Of course, this is assuming an eevee is at a high enough level to withstand two or more attacks from Sableye.

Actually, Sableye has NO weaknesses until Foresight then a fighting attack is used on it. If you could find a way to get it Wonder Guard, it'd be immune to all attacks (except straight up status changers like Toxic and Will O' Wisp)

Sableye is cool, but a Swampert's Earthquake can flatten them.

Actually, kratos, wonder guard would be helpful, although it wouldn't block foresight, so the fact is that even if you have a sableye with wonder guard, you're not entirely immune to damage. Foresight and Odor Sleuth, might I add, are the moves that allow fighting/normal type moves to hit ghost targets. As to getting Sableye wonder guard, you should let a kadabra learn the move skill swap, then enter a double battle with a shedinja and sableye, and of course kadabra in your party. Send out kadabra and shedinja, have kadabra skill swap on shedinja, hope shedinja either faints, or switch it out for sableye, and finally skill swap to sableye. It lasts for the battle, but at least you have a almost-invincible sableye.
As to the claims that Swampert and Charazard could defeat a sableye, it all falls down to level and statistics. If Sableye has better stats and a higher level, I would expect it to win, of course, the reverse is also true. A swampert or charizard fighting a lower leveled/lower stat sableye would have the edge.

Also, I changed my mind. I'm sure that by now, we're all on the same page. Magikarp is the best Pokemon ever.
