“Well, well, my lady, you dance gracefully for one that has never masqueraded before.” Tayus smiled, his black eyes shimmering with mischief from behind the black mask that covered his face. He looked into the brown eyes of his dance partner. Though he couldn’t see her face because of the mask, he knew who it was. Abigail, the one that had tried to destroy him, but saved him from the pits of Hell.
“Oh, shut it,” Abby said as she spun around with Tayus. The demon merely pursed his lips and smiled, his eyes still shining in mischief. She really didn’t like that look. She had fought him so long that she knew he was up to something. Why had he brought her to this masquerade anyway? She was surrounded by demons she was supposed to be sealing away.
Tayus grinned and she gasped when he spun her into another partner. She was left breathless as she bumped into the she demon. “Nervous, human?” The demon was just curious, not condescending. Abby raised an eyebrow as her and her partner spun around the room. That was not the typical attitude of a demon.
After a few minutes more, she was spun away and ended back up in Tayus’ arms. The demon merely continued to smile as they whirled around in the center of the dance floor. One would expect Satan himself to be in the middle, but he was nowhere to be seen. Tayus, being a right hand man to the Devil himself, was the man of honor. Abby was the maiden of honor and she didn’t like it at all.
“Enjoying yourself, little Abby?” Tayus asked. Abby huffed and didn’t give him the joy of hearing her response. Despite it, she grudgingly had to admit it was interesting and she was enjoying herself despite the dark presence that hung over the room.
After a while, the dance floor nearly emptied. Almost nobody took notice of the human and a hero of Hello in the middle. Abby was tired, but she had admitted to herself it wasn’t so bad and didn’t want it to end. It was like a dark dream, as she called them; something that seemed bad, but was surprisingly satisfying.
The girl rested her head on his chest, her eyes closing from the weariness of dancing. She felt Tayus chuckle and could almost sense everybody’s eyes on them now. It was highly unusual for a human to see a demon, let alone be this close to one physically.
The speed of the dance slowly decreased and Tayus raised Abby’s chin with his fingers. “Is the human tired?” he asked. “But are you enjoying yourself?” She just looked defiantly at him again, though she felt a blush burning on her cheeks. Her heart beat rapidly as she looked into the depth of his black eyes. His black wings wrapped around them and he smiled that smile of mysteries. She looked away, trying not to be captivated with him. She couldn’t deny it though.
“If the human is tired, we can stop.” Tayus gently turned her head back toward his face and placed a gentle kiss on her lips. Abby’s face burned and she closed her eyes. The dark angel merely chuckled as she broke away, running across the dance floor toward the front door.
