Blade and Blaziken walked in, carrying sixteen folded stands, each carrying eight. They began setting up the stands in a zig-zag pattern, then placed a large, circular disk onto each of them. They returned to the front, with each disk facing them. They each lined themselves up to the first disk, then on an invisible signal, they took a step, then disappeared.

Mei sat in a nearby tree, cleaning her sword off. Her face was clearly forlorn as she now switched to sharpening her sword, not that it needed to be.

Blade and Blaziken reappeared as they reached the first disk in the series, and were completely coordinated as they broke it, then disappeared once again, doing the same with each disk in turn until they reached the last one. Blaziken noticed Mei first, and gave a low "Ken" to let Blade know it saw something. "Who's there?" Blade called out, not bothering to look up.

Mei sheathed her sword and dropped out of the tree. She landed clear on her feet and softly, only disturbing the snow enough to leave her footprints. She had been a good thirty feet up in the tree. "I am Uzutai Mezara," she said, bowing. She looked no older than 15 in body, but her eyes reflected many more years of experience.

"That was an interesting move there, Uzutai. I have not seen anything like it." Blaze complimented her landing, then turned to Blaziken. "It was a spectacular move, right, friend?" Blaziken nodded and muttered "Blaze". "It appears Blaziken was embarrassed by being watched. It has been a long time since we were watched while we practiced." Blade suddenly looked more intrested as he noticed her sword. "Could you draw that sword? I wish to see the blade."

"My nickname is Mei. Uzutai is my family name." She winced at memories, then drew her blade. It was slender and curved, looking much like a katana, but its sheen and luster was twice that of a normal blade. "The extra sheen and luster is caused by a small layer of Qaeda to reinforce the blade."

"Qaeda... I don't know of that. It is beautiful. I saw your grace when you landed. It stands to reason you would hold a sword. Have you ever heard of the Hyrameki style, Mei?" Blade shifted from foot to foot. He was ready for his first real apprentice, although he would rather teach someone who had no previous skill with a sword. Blaziken was more of a project. The fact that the pokemon could not use a weapon made it impossible for it to learn the style completely.

"You are wishing to take me on as an apprentice. I already had a master. I have nearly mastered the Eru, Takazo Imoi and Majurin sword styles," she said. She sheathed her sword in less than half a heartbeat

"I see you have learned to read your opponent. That is always a good skill." Blade wasn't too crushed, he knew she probably wouldn't want to train with him, but he always had to try. It was the Master's job to find and accept new students. "Thank you for your time, anyway." He turned, "Come, Blazken, you have more practice to do, I saw that misstep of yours!" Blaziken followed, and gave a short grunt when his mistake was brought up.

"I can read aura which a more useful skill," Mei said. She replayed the training scene between Blade and Blaziken in her head. "Perhaps if you were to shift your weight ever so slightly to the right, you'd find it would help." With that, she drew her sword and a crackle went through the air and Mei's blade was enveloped a thin layer of Darkness, turning the blade black.

"Ah, I see you have powers as well. So many different powers, so few users. I, sadly, cannot. Oh well. I am happy to have the Hyrameki. Come, Blaziken, and try that tip she gave you." Blade replaced the broken disks, and they both returned to the starting point, and restarted the exercise. Afterward, they walked over to Mei once again. "That tip seemed to have helped him, Mei. He didn't misstep." To Blaziken, "Are you going to thank her for her kindness?" Blaziken commented with "Blaze", and Blade just nodded. "If you would like some information on the Hyrameki, i am always willing to share. I graduated about six years ago. I have not had an apprentice, other than Blaziken here, since then."

"It may be useful," Mei said. She slashed her blade to disspell the Darkness. A black wave came out of the blade, slicing down three trees before disipating. "A little weak."

"Very well, I will show you a little of the Hyrameki's power. As you have seen, it is based on extreme amounts of speed, enough to go beyond the capibility of the bare eye. This speed must be applied in a burst, so the user becomes invisible within a single step, which is where the advantages are in Hyrameki. Users of this practice are able to reach an opponent with ranged weapons before they are able to use those weapons." Blade stood. "Stand, and charge your sword again. I shall show you." He lept back, onto the stump of the first tree that was knocked down by the blast of darkness. "Once you have charged the blast, attack me."

"It better I not," Mei said. "If I used my Darkness against you, it could very well tear you in half. I know full well the power of my Darkness where as you do not. I do not doubt your speed, but this is not something to be used lightly. I will, instead, use Light so it will not harm you should you be hit." She charged her blade, a thin layer of white energy visible on it. She then swung her sword, releasing the charge of Light

"Alright, i see no fault in being cautious." He waited until the Light attack was only about a foot and closing fast, then jumped, dissappearing from view and re-appearing with his sword out and next to her. "How was that?" The manuver lasted only a second.

"Did you just say Kiki? She's here?" Blade's mouth fell open, as though he was just electricuted by her name. "I haven't seen her in forever!" He shook his head. "Oh, you said something about a Duel? I accept. It wouldn't look good if I denied a challenge from another Master of swordsmanship, would it?" He smiled, and sheathed his sword. "Although, I must warn you that Speed is not the only factor of the Hyrameki."

"Speed is not the only factor in the three swordtypes I practice as well," Mei said. She sheathed her sword and walked a little way away from Blade, giving him the opportunity to strike first.

"Very well. I will attack first." He began running at a speed similar to a normal charge, figuring she was expecting him to use his extreme speed to his advantage.

Mei quickly scanned Blade and found an opening. She quickly drew her sword and, using a spell to make the blade not cause any harm, took a step and slashed at him.

Perfect! Blade leaped as the opponent's blade came at him, dissappearing and landing behind her. He quickly spun and brought his sword towards her, using the back of the blade instead of the cutting edge.

Mei quickly turned around, the blades clanging together. She whipped her leg behind her and kicked a flurry of snow up, then used the advantage to swing her sword low. Though she was using the cutting edge, the spell she had used not too long before was still in effect

Blade ducked the thrown snow, using his left leg to catch her other leg while she was kicking. He gave it a pull, then lept back.

Mei swung her sword at the snow, kicking up a large curtain of it a good fifty feet into the air. She then disappeared and reappeared behind Blade and swung for him.

"I see, you have speed and skill as well. I will adjust for that." He ducked, then launched himself into her as the sword passed over him. "The Hyrameki is based mostly on the sword, but it also teaches defence with the body."

Mei flipped backwards, doing two flips before landing. "I have trained with some of the very best," she said.

Blade landed, staggering slightly because of the move's power, and recovered quickly. "My sensei is the best Hyrameki user in the world. I have only learned the moves, the rest comes with experience." Blade charged foward, fading from view as he passed Mei, then stopped, turning to face her as he did so, and prepared his sword in front of him.

Mei quickly matched Blade's speed, the blades clanging ringing in the air. In the same movement, she swung her blade toward Blade's chest.

Blade moved his sword down, blocking the swipe, then brought it up in a diagonal swing. "You are pretty good yourself, not many people can defend themselves against Hyrameki."

Mei blocked the swing, flipped back. "I have trained with some of the best," she said again, before sheathing her sword. "I wanted to gauge some of your ability. You have some much talent, but you still have a long way to go. I can say this as I have indeed trained with some of the best. One of my teachers was Rotash, a 5,000 year old Fairy."
